NEXEN TIRE, a leading global tire manufacturer, has announced that the company is holding a character design art exhibition in collaboration with high school students.

In an effort to expand interaction with design-oriented high school students in the local community, NEXEN TIRE has collaborated with students from Segeuru Fashion Design High School in Dobong District, Seoul, on a corporate character design project. The results of this collaboration will be exhibited from September 1 to 8.

NEXEN TIRE has been producing creative design outcomes through various design collaborations with artists, universities, and the Korea Design Membership (KDM+).

This collaboration focused on differentiating brand image through creative character design and involved 10 teams of students from the Fashion Product Design department at Segeuru Fashion Design High School.

Over a period of six months, the project went through stages such as design research, idea generation, design visualization, and final outcomes. NEXEN TIRE's design professionals visited the high school, engaging in idea exchange and mentoring sessions with the students.

Furthermore, based on the design outcomes of each team, various character items such as keyrings, tumblers, dolls, and etc. were created, which will be displayed in the lobby space on the first floor of NEXEN Central Research Institute, 'The NEXEN UniverCity' in Magok, Seoul, and will be open to the public.

"This industry-academia collaboration project is a meaningful opportunity for aspiring designer students to showcase their abilities externally with the mentoring of design professionals, stated a representative from NEXEN TIRE. “We are very pleased with the outcomes, particularly the students' creative and vibrant ideas and inspiration.”

Meanwhile, NEXEN TIRE’s recent concept tire Mearth, created through industry-academia collaboration with product design students from Design Council Busan’s KDM+ program, won the Grand Prize at the 2023 IDEA Design Awards, demonstrating the success of industry-academia collaboration.
