- MOU intends to share expertise and infrastructure facilities, while ensuring technological competitiveness
NEXEN TIRE today announced that it has signed an MOU with the Korea Expressway Corporation's (KEC) Road Traffic Research Institute.
The two companies plan to lead technological development on the road, transportation, and automobile sectors, as well as to ensure technological competitiveness by sharing expertise and infrastructure facilities.
The Road Traffic Research Institute, based in Dongtan, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, has strategically introduced and operates a high-fidelity level driving simulator to develop and distribute technologies such as road traffic safety technology and advanced driver assistance systems.
Because virtual tires, virtual vehicles, and system operating technologies are crucial in driving simulations, both companies are promoting future strategic collaboration.
In particular, NEXEN TIRE will further increase its market competitiveness by predicting and optimizing the performance of cars required by original equipment (OE) in advance through virtual tire performance evaluation using driving simulators, which helps save time and cost
Furthermore, in the future, NEXEN TIRE intends to gradually build driving simulator-related operational personnel and infrastructure in order to expand OE supply to premium carmakers and lead virtual development technologies.
